What we collect
Certvolt connects to your Tesla account via Tesla's official Fleet API with read-only OAuth scopes. We receive only telemetry your Tesla shares — battery level, range, charge state, odometer, tire pressures, software version, and GPS location.
What we store
- Telemetry snapshots — battery level, range, odometer, tire pressures, charging state, ambient temperature. Capped at the most recent 2,000 readings per vehicle (~5 years at one snapshot per day).
- Tesla refresh token — encrypted at rest, scoped to your account, used only to refresh the short-lived access token for the daily background poll. Revocable from your Tesla account at any time.
- Vehicle profile preferences — nickname, color, electricity rate, gas price, annual miles, battery chemistry override (if any). Editable in your dashboard.
What we do NOT do
- We never send commands to your Tesla. We cannot honk, lock, unlock, climate-control, or drive it.
- We never sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing.
- We never store your Tesla account password — authentication is handled by Tesla's OAuth servers.
- We never poll your vehicle aggressively. The background cron runs once per day; opening your dashboard pulls a fresh snapshot.
How GPS is used
Your vehicle's GPS coordinates are used solely to fetch local weather (via Open-Meteo, a free public API) so we can attribute observed range loss to ambient temperature. We do not log your location history, do not send it to third parties, and do not use it for anything else.
Revoking access
You can revoke Certvolt's access at any time from your Tesla account at tesla.com/teslaaccount → Settings → Authorized Apps. Once revoked, the daily poll stops immediately. Email contact if you also want your stored telemetry deleted.
Cookies
A single HTTP-only session cookie holds your Tesla OAuth refresh token (90-day TTL, matching Tesla's refresh-token lifetime). No analytics cookies, no tracking pixels, no third-party scripts.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be announced on the dashboard and via email. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
